Central Nursery School has proudly served generations of families, and we are honored that many of our current students are the children of former Central Nursery School students. This wonderful tradition reflects the lasting relationships, trust, and sense of community that have been at the heart of our school for generations.
Today, Young Inventors Montessori dba Central Nursery School builds on that legacy with a forward-looking vision: creating a Children’s Innovation Center where young children can learn through curiosity, creativity, exploration, and hands-on discovery.
We welcome children 18 months through 6 years and provide a nurturing environment where learning happens naturally through a balance of Montessori-inspired activities, hands-on exploration, creative projects, science and discovery, imaginative play, and age-appropriate structured learning. Our goal is not simply to prepare children for the next grade level, but to help them become confident, curious, independent learners who are excited to understand how the world works.
We believe young children are natural innovators. They learn by asking questions, touching, building, experimenting, making mistakes, trying again, and discovering their own solutions. Our educators encourage this natural curiosity while providing the structure, guidance, and emotional support children need to grow.
As a small program, we maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio in accordance with licensing requirements. This allows our educators to know each child individually and provide meaningful attention based on their unique interests, developmental stage, personality, and learning needs.
Our program also includes nutritious morning and afternoon snacks, as well as diapers and wipes. Currently, children bring their favorite lunch from home, while we explore opportunities to introduce a healthy, school-provided lunch option in the future.
Most importantly, we want every child who walks through our doors to feel safe, valued, respected, and inspired. We want them to leave each day having learned something new, created something of their own, asked a question, solved a problem, made a friend, or discovered something they didn’t know before.

Our Swim Program: We partner with the Central YMCA to offer an exclusive swim program at a discounted rate for our families. Children are guided by experienced, caring instructors in a safe and supportive environment, where each session blends gentle instruction with playful activities—making learning to swim both fun and confidence-building. Best of all, the program is completely hassle-free for parents: CNS staff take care of all arrangements and accompany the children every step of the way, ensuring a smooth, enjoyable, and worry-free experience.
